Sugar Puffs wanted a striking 3D in-pack premium produced on a 2D premium timescale. They also wanted their packaging to be integrated more fully with the promotion.
Linking with top Fox license The Simpsons, the characters' famous images were used on a cool set of ‘Magni-Finders’. Because these premiums were made from flat, transparent plastic, the Simpsons characters could be printed in 2D, thus avoiding months of sign-off procedures linked with the
development of three dimensional licensed characters.
On the back of each Sugar Puffs pack a wealth of Simpsons-related data was incorporated...
all of which was printed at a hard-to-see scale! This encouraged children to use their Magni-Finder’s
special magnifying lens to read the very small copy, forging a link between the licensed premium and the Sugar Puffs packaging (which is usually ignored once the gift is removed.)
